BIO
After high school, Kate spent five years serving in the US Army as a Russian linguist, after which she earned a BA in Philosophy, an MFA in Poetry from UC Riverside and an MA in Religion and Literature from Yale Divinity School.
After hopping from state-to-state and from job-to-job (she’s worked as a janitor, a wildland firefighter, an editor, a barista, a university writing instructor, a farm hand, a landscaper, a nonprofit program director, a chocolate maker, a tutor, and a factory worker), Kate married a good man and moved with him to Oklahoma. They have two sons and no plans to move anytime soon.
Kate’s poems and essays address matters of faith, addiction, motherhood, mental illness, work, gender, and prayer. Her work can be found online and in print journals.
